The following centrally sponsored projects are now implemented by the Corporation:

SWARNA JAYANTHI GRAM SWAROSGAR YOJNA - (SGSY)

Name of the project: Project for Backyard Poultry production This scheme is intended to alleviate poverty among rural women remaining in BPL. The scheme provides assistance to 40,000 women beneficiaries remaining in BPL in selected 50 blocks of the state. The total out lay if Rs. 14.92 Crores

The scheme is for a period of two years. An Anjili wood cage costing Rs. 1250, 20 Nos. of backyard birds of 30-40 days, 2 Kgs of feed/bird and Rs. 50/- worth medicines are given to each beneficiary. The scheme has been implement in 24 blocks out of total 50 blocks selected in the state and action to implement the same to remaining blocks are in progress.

STEP - I (2003)

(SUPPORT TO TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN)

The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of India has sanctioned a STEP Scheme in 2003 for helping 10000 socially and economically backward women distributed in 19 selected blocks of the State. The subsidy scheme is for a period of 3 years with a total outlay of Rs. 430 Lakhs to be financed in the ratio of 90:10 by the Central and State Governments. The scheme provides in the first year 15 Nos. of backyard birds (30-40 days), 2 Kgs of feed/bird, Rs. 50 medicines and one Anjili Wood cage costing Rs. 1173/-. In the 2nd and 3rd year the items other than cage is distributed to the beneficiaries with 50% and 30% subsidy. The first year of the scheme has been completed by distributing 1,50,000 backyard birds, feed and the required medicines. In addition to the above, training is imparted in vocational trades to make the women self sufficient. The beneficiaries are grouped in SHGs consists of 20 beneficiaries each.

At each Block Level Vanitha Vikasana Societies were formed as per the scheme and a Working Capital assistance of 1 Lakh and Managerial Grant of Rs. 50,000/- per society will also be sanctioned. In addition to this, a marketing unit costing Rs. 70,000/- will also be provided in each group consists of 200 beneficiaries.

STEP I Physical Progress

STEP II (2005)

The STEP II (2005) was also sanctioned in the same pattern with a higher out lay of Rs. 45,9.40 Lakhs. The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of India has sanctioned a STEP Scheme in 2003 for helping 10000 socially and economically backward women distributed in 19 selected blocks of the State. The additional amounts were provided for poultry unit to cope up with the market cost of the cages, feeder etc.

Step II Physical Progress

RSVY WAYANAD

Name of the project: Backyard Poultry Distribution Scheme
Funding agency: Wayanad District Panchayat
Year of starting the project: 2007
Expected year of completion: 2008
Proposed year of completion: 2008

Project Outline:

1. Distribution of 15 pullets, 30 kg feed, medicines etc., to 600 selected beneficiaries in each Panchayat.
2. Total no. of beneficiaries: 600*25 Panchayats= 15000
3. Total no. of birds to be distributed: 15000*15= 225000
Details of funds sanctioned: Rs. 190 Lakhs
Physical achievement: Distribution of birds and feed implemented in 25 Panchayats
Financial achievement: Rs. 190 Lakhs
